I will go

One of the primary purposes of the church is evangelism. As a matter of fact, that is what the church is elected to do. We have been chosen by God to be His ambassadors to this earth. Everything we do as a church must have as its purpose to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As Thom Rainer points out, we must have an ‘I will go’ attitude. The problem with many church goers is the fact that they do not see the need. They go about their daily lives with no concern for the loss. We need to be awakened to the fact that those who leave this world apart from Christ will, in fact, spend an eternity in hell. We do not like to think about hell because it is such a terrible place. However, if we could get a picture in our minds of our loved ones and neighbors in that terrible place then our zeal for evangelism would greatly increase. There are many objections that people make as to why they do not share their faith. In one recent poll it was discovered that more Christians are more comfortable talking with someone about politics than they are in sharing the Gospel. Friends, this ought not be. Jesus bled and died for our salvation on the cross. His grace is available to all. He is our only hope. He is the only way to heaven. Why would we not want to share such good news with others? Thom Rainer points out several actions that we can take when it comes to sharing our faith. (1) Pray for opportunities. God has a way of bringing people across your path that you can be a witness to. I guarantee that if you pray for God to lead you to someone that you can share your faith with, He will do it. (2) Invite people to church. One of the simplest ways that you can begin to share your faith is to invite people to church. Or, better yet, pick them up and bring them to church and then take the out to eat after the service and ask them if they have any questions about what they heard at church. (3) Intentionally look for opportunities. Be aware of those around you and look for opportunities to be a witness. (4) Be prepared. When God gives you opportunities, be prepared to know what you are going to say. If you need help with this, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be glad to help you learn how to share the Gospel. The bottom line is that there is no excuse. As Thom Rainer writes, “It is time for all church members and believers to acclaim these words without hesitation: I WILL GO.”
