Back to School

The Bible teaches us to “Study to show thyself approved unto God.” One of the things that I enjoy is spending time in the study of God’s Word. The Lord has blessed me with a good Biblical education from Piedmont Baptist College. I have also been blessed with several years of experience in ministry. I was thinking the other day that I have now been serving in church ministry as either a senior pastor or a staff member for 12 years now. I was blessed with starting in the ministry at the age of 18 and I have been involved in church work ever since. I really enjoy the work of the local church and I look forward to many more years of working in the local church. For the past several months I seem to have an increasing hunger and desire for more of God’s Word. I want to learn more so that I can be a better communicator of the Gospel and a better servant of the church. I have recently enrolled at Tyndale Theological Seminary to work toward a Masters in Biblical Studies and Christian Counseling. I am very excited to learn and enhance my education through such a great school. My goal is to finish my masters degree within three years and then begin to work toward a Doctorate of Ministry. Getting the degree is not the main purpose. It is my desire to know more of God’s Word and to become a better preacher and pastor. The school that I am enrolled in requires a lot of writing. I will be posting all of my seminary papers here on my blog for your review. I appreciate any comments and suggestions regarding the posts. Be sure to check back in a few weeks as I will share with you my first work that involves an evaluation of a theological journal article. I appreciate your prayers as I continue with this endeavor. It is my hearts desire that you too will develop a love for God’s Word and a hunger to study and know Him more. May God bless all students of God’s Word.
