There are many wonderful spiritual nuggets that are found in the Biblical account of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus. One spiritual nugget that sticks out like a flashing light is found in Luke 1:38. The angel had just explained to Mary how she would give birth to the Savior of the world though she was a virgin. Mary was obviously full of questions, but, Luke 1:38 reveals her true heart. Mary says, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to They Word.” Though Mary did not understand all that was about to transpire, she was willing and obedient to be used by God in the most unusual way. How many of us can honestly say the same thing? Are we okay with telling God to do what He pleases with us? This can be a dangerous thing for us. Most of the time, what we think is best for our lives is not what God has planned. However, we must have such faith in God that we understand that His way is always the best way. Could it be that God is calling you to the mission field? Could it be that God is calling you to vocational ministry in a local church? Could it be that God is calling you to volunteer at your church? Could it be that God is calling you to pursue a theological education? God has something He wants you to do now. He has a plan. Do you know God’s plan for your life? Are you seeking God’s plan for your life? Can you say along with Mary, “Be it unto me according to Thy will”?
