Stewardship Devotional Day 9
The Treasure Principle #2 – Talents
In God’s Divine Sovereignty and by His grace, He has given every person certain talents and abilities. He has also given by the Holy Spirit, every born-again believer certain spiritual gifts. These talents and spiritual gifts are to be used for the edifying of the church and for the increase of God’s Kingdom.
1 Corinthians 12:18 says, “But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.” You are not where you are by accident. God has worked in the circumstances of your life to bring you to the church that you attend. You have a responsibility to the church. You are called by God to use your talents and spiritual gifts for His Kingdom purposes through the life and ministry of the local church. You are valuable to the church. You are important. You are needed. As long as God has you where you are, you should serve faithfully as a fully committed member of the church.
We all have different talents and spiritual gifts. There is no one in the church (including the pastor) that is more important than another. It is when we are all faithful to using what God has given us that the church is united and will multiply. Not everyone is equal in how they serve, but everyone is equal in worth. For example, those who serve in the kitchen have just as important of a role as the pastor who preaches. Those who work in the sound room and work the cameras are just as important as those who lead in worship. You may not be physically able to serve in certain capacities, but you can pray or make encouraging phone calls or write letters. You see, God is never done with you. As long as you have breath, there is something for you to do.
Talents and spiritual gifts have been given to you by God for the edifying of the church and the increase of His Kingdom. Develop those talents. Use those spiritual gifts. Be a good steward of what God has enabled you to do and serve faithfully for the glory of God.
