Stewardship Devotional Day 5
Experiencing God Reality #5 – God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action
It is often said that the Word of God demands a response. Every time you read the Word, hear the Word preached, or have the Word spoken to you; you have a choice to make. You must decide if you will obey the Word or will you ignore the Word. The Bible is very clear that God has called believers to a life of serving Him.
1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each one has received a gift, minister to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” It is important for you to understand that you are valuable. God has a purpose for you. God has placed you in His church for a purpose. As a steward, you are called to use the gifts God has given through the life and ministry of the local church. He has called you into His work – the work of His church. However, God will not force you into the work. He will not make you serve Him. You have a choice. You must decide if you will be an active contributor of your time, talents, and treasures to His Kingdom through the local church.
This decision to be an active contributor requires faith and action. You must have the faith that God will prepare you, equip you, and use you. You must step out in faith and trust God to bring the increase. You must step out in faith and leave the results to God. That faith must be coupled with action. A steward cannot sit on his hands. He must do something. He must get involved. He must show up and serve. Too often we say the right things without doing the right things. We must be willing to get our hands dirty. We must be willing to roll up our sleeves and work.
Stewardship is not caretaking; stewardship is investing. Being a steward is not just maintaining what we have. Being a steward is investing what we have into God’s Kingdom purposes. God wants you to be involved in His work. Will you have the faith and take action to get involved as a good steward?
