Every Christian is called by God. We are called to serve Him in specific ways and in specific places. God may call you to witness to a neighbor, He may call you to start a new ministry, He may call you to be a missionary or a pastor, He may call you to teach Sunday School, He may call you to help someone in need, etc. Mark it down. God has something for you to do for His Kingdom. What is your calling? What does God want you to do?

There are several ways in which we can confirm God’s call on our lives:

1. Pray – A continual life of prayer is a necessity in hearing God’s call. If you are not spending quality time in prayer on a daily basis, you will never hear God’s call and you will miss out on God’s perfect plan for your life.

2. The written Word. – God’s call on our lives is also confirmed through the written Word of God. The more we study the scriptures, the more we will see what God has for us to do. As Christians, we should never venture out in any work unless it can be backed up by God’s Word.

3. The spoken Word. – God gives us pastors and teachers in order to communicate truth to us. We should listen very carefully to every sermon we hear. We should respond to God’s spoken Word in the appropriate way.

4. Circumstance. – God has a way of using the circumstances of our lives to lead us to what He wants us to do. God opens doors and closes doors. We should pay close attention to the circumstances of our lives to see how God may be leading us.

5. Confirmation from others. – God’s call on our lives is confirmed by other believers, There is wisdom in seeking counsel. We should listen carefully to what our brothers and sisters in Christ are telling us.

6. The impressing of the Holy Spirit. – As we grow closer to Jesus, the Holy Spirit of God will speak to us. He will impress things on our hearts and give us overwhelming desires. Those desires impressed upon our hearts by the Spirit is a good indication of God’s specific call.

What is God calling you to do? He has something for you to do. Get close to Him. Listen for His call and answer the call.
