I am very blessed to serve as Pastor of an outward focused and mission minded church. I must confess that I like to brag about what God is doing in and through FBC Decherd. We are not a large church by any means, but, we do have a big heart. Everything we do as a church is centered around bringing the Gospel to the world and the discipleship of believers.

There are many things that we do as a church where we engage our local community with the Gospel. We sponsor and lead two after school Bible programs called Good News Clubs at two different public elementary schools. Each week a total of nearly 100 children are learning the Good News of Jesus at our Good News Clubs. In addition to this, the Lord led our church to be heavily involved in the formation of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship which partners with local churches in a six county region to bring the Gospel to children and families. In addition to our outreach through CEF, we are also heavily involved in our local Fellowship of Christian Athletes. We work with coaches and athletes in our public schools through speaking at FCA Huddles and also help provide pre-game meals for Franklin County Football. Each year, we also create our own unique Vacation Bible School that is geared toward reaching families with the Gospel. We also sponsor and lead a summer camp for children ages 8 to 14. This camp is a great opportunity to invest in the lives of children in our church as well as the friends that they invite to camp. We also emphasize the importance of personal evangelism and are constantly encouraging our people to share the Good News every where they go.

My prayer has been that God would allow us to expand our mission outreach around the globe. In addition to our regular financial support for missions, we have 12 people from our church going on a mission trip this summer to Calgary, Canada. It is a great opportunity for our church to connect with missionaries on the field and assist them in their work in a very spiritually starved part of the world. I would like to extend an invitation for you to join us in this work. My entire family is part of the 12-member team heading to Calgary this summer. Please pray for us daily and for the entire missions team that God would do great things through us in Calgary this summer. Naturally, such a missions endeavor comes with a cost. There is no greater work than the work of bringing the Gospel to the world. I encourage you to connect with your local church. Volunteer and serve in local mission efforts and consider going on a mission trip to another part of the world. Faithfully give to your local church and in addition to your regularly giving, give to other mission organizations and projects. As the body of Christ, we are in this together. May we all be outward focused and mission minded.
