Scripture Reading: Psalm 139
This Psalm is one of my personal favorites. It describes the awesome power and greatness of our God. We learn of the attributes of God. He is omniscient (v. 1-6). He knows all things. There is nothing that we say or do that He does not know. He knows every thought that I have. He knows every desire. He knows every hurt. He knows more about me than I know about myself. He is also omnipresent (v. 7-12). He is everywhere at all times. I cannot escape God. I cannot run from Him. I cannot hide from Him. I am always in His presence. God surpasses time. He is not limited by time. He is everywhere at all times. He is in the past. His is in the present. He is in the future. God is also omnipotent (v. 13-22). He is all powerful. He created me. He formed me in my mother’s womb. He knew me before I was born. He has a plan for me. He can do all things. Those who come against me, my own sin that entangles me is no match for God. My God can set me free. There is nothing too big or too small for God. He can do anything. When I think of the greatness of God, I am compelled to pray as the Psalmist prayed (v. 23-24). Search me. Know me. Test me. Take away every wicked way in me. As the old hymn says, “Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine. Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine. Take all my will, my passion, self and pride. I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.”
What is God saying to me:
“I am your God. I am in control. Trust Me. Believe in Me. Allow Me to test you. Allow Me to cleanse you.”
What should I do today:
Ask God to search me and try me. Heed to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Repent of and Remove all the wickedness and sin in my life. Meditate on His attributes throughout the day.
